I love shelterbox! But each one of their kits costs hundreds and hundres of dollars. For that amount, we can buy scores of tents for people – and with the numbers of tentless people, I'm thinking we need to go that way for now.

A lot of these tents you can not stand up in. I love http://www.shelterbox.org/ tents. And if you donate you can track your donation that is great since there has been so much fraud. Remember Katrina..we gave so much money and it disappeared. Anyway, I think we can donate money here and Shaun can buy a shelter box and we will be able to track it and see who gets it. Makes us feel more involved.

I would venture that sending tarps (and tarp tie-downs)is a good idea too - we can send more of them than tents because they are cheaper, so it is a good stopgap measure. And I found them super cheap here: http://www.wttool.com/product-exec/product_id/157...
