Hey!
Today (Monday) was an amazing day! Nearly 100 volunteers from around Atlanta (and the entire country) came together to bring hope to the hurting flood victims in our city. It took all 100 of us to work from nearly 6am-10pm to completely gut and clean 10 homes in the epicenter of the flood – Austell, GA. It was amazing!
We also delivered thousands and thousands of bottles of water, dozens and dozens of boxes of toiletries, wardrobes full of clothes, and much more. We squeezed everything we had and brought hope. It was hard. We had dozens of cuts, a broken nose, plenty of filth, but we came together and pushed past it…so that we can do it again tomorrow (Tuesday).
Tomorrow (and maybe for the rest of the week) we will not be meeting in our offices @ Courageous Church. We broke the elevators (too much stuff) there today and we calculated that we are wasting about 90 minutes a day meeting there before going to Austell.
Tomorrow (Tuesday) and the rest of this week we will be traveling directly to Austell and will meet right outside of Clarksdale Elementary School (the school on the news that was submerged underwater). This is where the best work gets done. We will begin around 9am and work until the last one of us leaves. Tonight we used our cars for lights when it got dark. We will almost always be there until around 7pm or so.
The address for Clarksdale Elementary School is: 4455 Wesley Dr, Austell, GA 30106 -when you get there you will know that much work needs to be done. Find a crew and get working :-)
We want to have hundreds -maybe thousands- of people there on this Saturday (and every Saturday), but we hope that you can make it out TOMORROW! Please reply now to this email if you can serve with us tomorrow!
Although it may be warm, we need you to wear a long sleeve shirt and pants with shoes you don’t mind ruining. We have a variety of work that is needed that can cater to any challenges or limitations you may have.
Our team will be calling you if they haven’t already and will answer your questions. Email me directly if you need anything or have questions.
Be Courageous!
