You have to make the BIG ASK!

7 months in to leading Courageous Church and I have realized that a HUGE part of discipling people and getting them to new levels in life is much simpler than I expected.

You have to make the BIG ASK (I dare you to say BIG ASK 5 times fast) :-)

Almost odd, Jesus, in the beginning of the Gospels, walked up to people full of potential and simply asked them to follow him.  No invite cards.  No CDs.  No website to reference.  No nifty t-shirt…just a plain, bold ASK.

And get this – IT WORKED! He asked.  People followed.  Yeah – I know he had the whole Jesus thing going for him, but the principle is the same and, after all, you are the representative of Jesus on the earth!

Leaders have to ASK people to step up and take risks.  If you don’t ask them to step up, it might happen, but the likelihood is so much less.  They might say no, but I bet you’ll hear YES a lot more than you expect!

Try it and let me know how it works!

What an interesting point. I never really thought about just asking. Often we try to come up with super smart ways of getting people to do what you want or need when all it takes is asking. Thanks for the insight!
