Over the past week The Courageous Church has been talking with Morehouse College about the possibility of holding our Sunday morning services there on the campus. It was a LONG SHOT idea (my favorite kind) that picked up a surprising bit of steam over the past 7 days. I have had a series of meetings and conference calls and negotiations about this possibility since last Friday and was invited, along with some of our launch team, to present this idea to some staff, alums, and students last night. I was so glad to see so many supporters and members of our launch team show up! You all are the BOMB!
Because of the gravity of the opportunity, we enlisted hundreds of people to pray for us across the country (and across the world) and we feel very strongly that we received a clear answer to our prayer.
Morehouse College is an awesome school, with amazing programs, and one of the best facilties in our city, but RIGHT NOW is not the right time for The Courageous Church to be there. We'll continue to reach out to the campus like we are doing tomorrow with our FREE FOOD TAILGATING TENT and leave the door open to launch an additional service or location of our church there at a later date, but hammering out a harmonious way for this to happen by January is not the wise thing to do for our church or the college. I'm all for forcing a square peg into a circle hole every now and then, but this isn't the time for that.
You prayed for wisdom. I prayed for wisdom. The Lord answered our prayers and I am more excited and more confident than EVER that Center Stage is going to be the place where we launch a Revolution that turns this city on its head and sparks a real passion for people to live like Jesus!
Here's the object lesson: Intelligently eliminating options from your plate allows you to better focus on who God has called you to be. I'm glad we took a few days to eliminate a good option so that we can do great things for downtown Atlanta and feel confident doing them.
PS – Don't stop praying for us! We need prayer now more than ever!

I don’t know much about Morehouse but Center Stage is a sweet, paradigm-changing venue for those you are called to reach.

love the thought of another venue at some point…respect the fact that you say for both the Courageous Church and Morehouse it is best to wait…I do not know much about Center Stage other than what you have shared…I did sense your excitement a couple of months ago when it appeared to become reality and it looks like a saweet! set up for the Courageous Church to bring Jesus to downtown Atlanta!…blessings!

It is Great man that the Lord has worked all this out. Lynsey and I are praying for you and we plan to help in any way possible. I would love to come down a weekend to help you out man and look forward to the Launch sercive. Here in Tucson meeting with some church planting stragetist and checking the city out.
