A few days ago this Seattle pastor that I admire tremendously wrote a widely read (and commented on) article that deals, in part, with the issue of women in ministry and the lack of advocacy on the part of influential leaders who claim to support the notion.  As a father of two daughters that have ministerial aspirations, the husband of a wife that has considered the call of full-time ministry, the son-in-law of an active, ordained female minister, and a member of a church with several women on the pastoral and ministerial staff, the issue of whether or not women "should be allowed" to be in ministry in general and in positions of ministerial leadership (elders, pastors, bishops, etc.) specifically is a BIG HONKING deal for me and the King Team.

I am heading off to a meeting in a few minutes, but will be formulating and posting my response to the above blog entry soon.  As a preview for how I really feel, I can begin by telling you that banning women from ministry in a church is like banning African Americans (or Latinos or Asians, etc.) from ministry in a church.

Type with you later.
